New York State
|
My first camera was a Brownie Hawkeye. I took my first pictures in 1953, processed them in an abandoned coal bin in the basement, and a few of the negatives survived. I’m fond of the two Halloween pictures and have included them. My first 35mm camera, an inexpensive Pentax, came my way in 1968 and I began struggling to figure it out. I stuck with this camera until about 1972, when I built my Christopher Street recording studio. My father had a small summer-house that was part of the Berlin Mountain Fish and Game Preserve. Berlin Mountain was in upstate New York, the closest town of consequence was Troy; groceries and provisions were acquired in Sand Lake. It was a fairly primitive location, but served as a wonderful base of operations. The house was sold in 1982. That’s why there are no more New York State pictures after that date.
